My background

Hello and welcome. My name is Andy Hewing.

I have been interested in cars all my life. I learnt a lot about cars  by taking them to pieces and fixing them.

I grew up with the last of the British motorcycles AJS, Matchless and Royal Enfield and that great British car, the BMC mini. But times move on and now I am writing web-pages about OBED (on board electronic diagnosis)

Supplying parts like camshafts, cranks, cylinder-heads, brake callipers as well as complete engines and gearboxes.

The car is changing

The world of the motor car has continually changed over the years; electronic ignition came along and the internal combustion engine became more reliable. Added to this were the new synthetic and semi-synthetic oils which gave engines and transmissions a much greater mileage span.

Demand for reconditioning changed and so at the turn of the century I started Donorspares.

Why donorspares

I sold spares and parts to enthusiasts building their own kit-cars.

They needed donor parts and donorspares provided them.

Certain of the Kit-cars are a link with the past. The Pinto engine and the Sierra Type 9 gearbox last in production (by Ford) before 1989.

 EOBD and common rail diesel - My aims

I aim to keep the donorspares website moving forward, keeping pace with changes.

We live in a digital age and today's cars are under more and more digital control.

So donorspares has one foot in the past and the other stepping into the future.

A lot of exciting developments are occurring and I will try to write about some of them.

Exciting developments in hybrid cars, use of solar panels, battery technology, stop-start technology, predictive technology and so on.
