Performance or Economy?
ECU remapping can help.
Fuel prices are up, up ,up -
everywhere except the US!
What do we want?
We want Economy
A recent AA survey asked motorists
'Which is more important to you
performance or economy?
70% put economy first.
Ten years ago the answer might well have been the other way with 70% preferring performance to 30%
in favour of economy.
But times have changed. Speed is still a thrill but times is hard and fuel prices are up everywhere
– sky-high in places like Turkey, Belgium, Portugal, almost everywhere except the US.
So 'How can I get more economy from my car ?' is a thought never far
away.

Tuning is a growing market as more and more of
us realise that real gains – up to a 10-12% increase in fuel economy can be
achieved.
| |
Tuning is Big
Business. But does it really work? Yes it does. If done
properly it does mean significant gains – perhaps as much as 5 miles per gallon
more.
And what's more there are plenty of good performance tuning companies out there who will do a good
job tuning your car to use less fuel.
If B.h.p. is your preference they can do that just as well, but
many of these firms are finding they can make more money helping to reduce fuel consumption than
releasing horsepower.

Diesel Particulate Filter – Failed again? ECU
remapping can help.
This is another popular ECU remapping service. Lots of diesel car owners want to remove the DPF
altogether and when you do you have to get the ECU remapped.
Problems with DPF's go something like this.
The DPF has to be replaced – it goes wrong under
warranty.
But when it goes wrong a second time the customer feels very
different about a £1500 bill to have it changed again!
Having the ECU remapped allows you to remove the Diesel Particulate Filter altogether from the
car.
Who should you go to for remapping your ECU? Can anyone
remap my ECU for me?
ECU's are getting more and more sophisticated. What could be
done up to now through the OBD (on-board diagnosis) port will only be achieved by internal
modifications to the ECU
This is already the case with new generation Bosch 'anti-tune' protection ECU's. And going into the
ECU board has to be done competently, takes time and money and often involves hefty investment in
up-to-the minute software.
