Engines - Internal Combustion
|
| |
| A Brief description.... |
All internal combustion engines produce the same outcome...fuel explodes, moves a piston(s) which causes a
crankshaft to turn and make the car, van, ship or plane etc. move...
In spite of this there are many differences in the way that engines function. Here are some of the
differences:
Aircooled and Watercooled
2 stroke and 4 stroke
Overhead valve and Overhead cam
Diesel and Petrol
Carburettor and Fuel injection and so on.
Generally speaking the greatest advances in how the modern engine functions have been in the use of electronic
controls. These have resulted in improvements in fuel consumption, power output, emmisions and so on.
