What are Car Fault Codes?
Modern cars are controlled by an ECU.
This is a mini computer, sometimes called a 'brain' and it tells the engine how much fuel is needed
for example when the engine is cold or when you press the accelerator.
The ECU receives a lot of information from different sensors on the engine; when any of these components
malfunction the ECU will show a car fault code so that you know what is wrong and to assist repair.
You need a scanning tool to 'read' the ECU (see right)
EOBD (Electronic on board diagnosis) On BD is an
international standard set to establish standards to encourage manufacturers "to design reliable emission control systems"
A plug connector in the car allows you to connect a scanning tool which will (hopefully) give your car fault
codes when (and if) a malfunction occurs.

BBA-reman are suppliers of a wide range of remanufactured units, including electronics. They
also provide many fault code pages for the different components in your car - you can open a new page fault codes to view some of the fault codes
