Laptop overheating?spares parts

'At first I did
not suspect anything was wrong.
I continued to use my notebook every day with out suspecting
my laptop was
overheating'
|
|
But my Acer laptop
began to overheat.
The first thing I noticed was how noisey the fan had
become.
Also the fan seemed to be running at full speed most of the
time.
|
|
|
|
Then the laptop
started to switch off without any warning.
I was able to start up again when it had cooled
down.
This is how I fixed the problem .
I removed the plastic grill on the underside of the machine and blew a lot of dust and dirt out of
the fan and the cooling duct.
I have to say that I was very pleased that the laptop worked normally after that and surprised how
much dirt had got clogged into the works!

Thinking back I realise now I had used my laptop in the workshop, and sometimes sitting in my
Transit van – not the cleanest of places

If you like fixing your car when it goes wrong, like me you want to solve the easier problems with
computers and laptops too!
And just like your car has a cooling system so has your
laptop.
The internal components of your laptop are cooled by air. (most car
cooling is liquid coolant)
When the laptop's central processing unit (CPU) is working it generates heat.
The laptop has a fan which draws cooling air into a special channel to direct it around the warm
components.
The warm air then goes out through the exhaust port in the side of the machine.
|
|
If any of these are blocked the machine may well overheat and go into emergency mode and shut
down.
|
|
The central processing unit (CPU) in a laptop or computer heats up when it is in use.
If you are using memory-intensive programs like games and videos the machine will generate more
heat

|
Major symptoms of laptop overheating are:
|
|
|
1 cooling fan is
noisey and is running at top speed most of the time.
2 Computer runs for a short time before shutting down without any
warning
|
|
|
| Major reasons for laptop overheating are: |
|
1 you are blocking
the air intake grill without realising e.g using the laptop on a soft surface like a blanket or
duvet or cushion so that the grill is blocked and air cannot get in
2 the cooling system is clogged with dirt and
dust
|
|
this can happen
without you realising especially if the machine is left running for long periods of
time
